this collaboration with poet jan noble returns poetry to the fluent grooves of the vinyl format, reminiscent of burton’s mellifluous readings of dylan thomas. 

veteran tv actor john nettles displays his range and RSC roots giving voice to ‘reynard‘ – a contemporary retelling of the medieval fox tale. Part migrant story, part road movie, the historic allegory of deception and trickery is reimagined in modern, epic poetry.

although best known for his tv work – in particular the title role in ‘bergerac’ (1981–1991) and as detective chief inspector tom barnaby in ‘midsomer murders’ (1997–2011) – nettles is no stranger to literary projects voicing audio books and recording ‘the nations favourite poems’ for the bbc. 

noble and nettles first worked together on ‘speaking dante’ (2021) a live, 24 hour reading of dante’s ‘divine comedy’ with a cast that included ralph fiennes and helen mirren. here they discovered their shared passion for poetry… and the fox was was running…
