Born and bred in Blackpool, Peter Bennett moved to London in the early 90′s to study fine art. He formed the outsider rock band Monkey Island, lo-fi blues outfit The Dublo and is guitarist in Anglo/Americana group Morning Bride.
The Occasional Diary Entry of an Opportunist Football Fan , a short story about his experiences of Blackpool Football Club and a recent Monkey Island gig with John Robb’s reformed Membranes completes the seaside connection.
A musician, artist and promoter, writer for Freq and N16 magazines, he lives in his beloved, adopted, borough of Hackney with his partner and young daughter, continuing to scorn the mainstream in favour of a DIY and community approach to the arts, informed by his youth in Blackpool as a fanzine reading, guitar and skateboard wielding, punk rocker.
An exhibition of his paintings, curated by Billy Childish, is on show at L-13 Light Industrial Workshop, Clerkenwell from 8th April – 8th May 2011
